REMINDER: TOMORROW PVMS will host a screening (IN THE PMHS AUDITORIUM) and follow up discussion of the documentary film "Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age"
"An award-winning film that probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games and academics. The film offers solutions on how we can help our kids navigate the digital world. (runtime about 67-minutes)" Come join us as this film is not available to stream online. PVMS students viewed the documentary and had discussions with their teachers during NJSLA Testing on September 22nd. This is an important issue as many of us are learning to manage our digital habits right along with our children. We hope to see you all there !

8th grade Parents & Students,
Yesterday (10/12) Salem County Vo-Tech did a presentation to our 8th grade students. Our 8th graders were awesome during the presentation and even earned a few hat days this week for that !
Please see the link below for more information about Vo Tech and the Academies and for applications. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Guidance Office!

The Ed Foundation is sponsoring a movie night tomorrow night (10/6) behind the Middle School. Field opens @ 6:30 - bring the whole family out for a good time!
It was a busy day here @ PVMS! This morning our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders completed the NJ State Start Strong assessments for Math and ELA.
This afternoon our entire building watched a documentary called "Screenagers" about addiction to screens and the issues that arise from teen and pre-teen overuse of them. This seems to have generated some chatter from our students and teachers about an issue that all of us deal are dealing with.
We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night tonight - 6PM start !
PVMS STUDENT COUNCIL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
There will be an interest meeting this Thursday 9/15 in the Cafeteria from 2:20-3:00. Please arrange transportation home promptly at 3pm
The purpose of the student council is to give students the opportunity to develop leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that help contribute to the school spirit and community, the student council is the voice of the student body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns.
Any student that is interested in leadership, event planning, helping others or becoming more involved in the school are welcome to join! Joining is voluntary and you must apply and get approved by the Advisors.

Wow - what an awesome first week Pennsville Middle!! It was so great having students back in the building. Our students did an AMAZING job with our new"Away for the Day" smartphone policy and new E-Hallpass platform. It was very encouraging that many students chose not to use their smartphones during our 'device time' block and the majority of students chose not to use Chromebooks during lunchtime! It was really refreshing to see our students socializing without devices.
Some reminders for next week
- Students that arrive after the 7:35 bell will begin to be marked late
- Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday 9/22 - more info to come !
We are so excited and encouraged by the great start to the school year. Let's keep the positive vibes and momentum going throughout this school year! Have a great weekend PVMS!!
The 2022-2023 school year will be the 60th (!) that Pennsville Middle School has been in existence. See a little bit of the history and a few pictures in this post. If you or anyone you know have pictures or stories that you'd like to share about the early days of Pennsville Junior High - feel free to email me - (aslusher@pv-eagles.org)
